DHS Announces Major Self-Deportation Offer To Illegal Immigrants

The Department of Homeland Security will pay for commercial flights and offer a $1,000 stipend to illegal aliens who want to self-deport from the United States, a measure that DHS claims would save thousands of dollars.

According to the government, this will cost American taxpayers 70% less than it presently costs DHS to arrest, imprison, and deport someone, which costs over $17,000 on average. DHS expects the average cost of paying for foreigners to remove themselves, even with the stipend, to be no more than $4,500.

The stipend would not be given until it was determined that an individual had self-deported. Aliens will utilize the CBP Home self-deportation app to seek this help, and DHS anticipates self-removals, which are currently in the hundreds, to increase considerably following this announcement.

According to a news release, those who use the CBP Home app to leave the U.S. will be “deprioritized for detention and removal” if they are taking steps to exit the country, Fox News noted.

“If you are here illegally, self-deportation is the best, safest, and most cost-effective way to leave the United States to avoid arrest. It is better to get out now,” DHS Secretary Kristi Noem told Fox News in a statement.

“DHS is now offering illegal aliens financial travel assistance and a stipend to return to their home country through the CBP Home App. This is the safest option for our law enforcement and aliens, and is a 70% savings for US taxpayers. Download the CBP Home App TODAY and self-deport,” she continued.

According to DHS, self-deportation gives people an opportunity to legally return to the nation in the future.

However, some opponents may view the action as immigrants receiving government money for breaching the law. DHS recognized this worry to Fox News, and the government reiterated that this will save taxpayers substantial money in the long run, with the ultimate aim of removing illegal aliens from the country.

Under the Biden administration, millions of individuals entered the nation illegally, leading to a grinding standstill in fresh border crossings.

Furthermore, the Trump administration has prioritized deporting those with criminal records and charges, in addition to those who are illegally present in the country. This effort includes moving some accused MS-13 and Tren de Aragua gang members to an El Salvador prison after Trump labeled both groups as international terrorist organizations.

According to preliminary statistics acquired by The New York Post, illegal crossings at the US-Mexico border stayed near historic lows in April, despite a minor increase from prior months.

According to Border Patrol statistics, fewer than 10,000 migrants crossed the southern border illegally in April, a 93% decline from the more than 128,000 who did so the previous year.

The numbers imply that President Trump’s border crackdown, which was a key campaign promise, has resulted in a dramatic decline in the number of migrants landing illegally in the United States.

April’s statistics follow February’s 8,300 illegal migrants and March’s 7,100 crossings, the lowest in at least 25 years.

According to Homeland Security sources, monthly migrant encounters are lower than the number of unlawful crossings recorded on certain days during the Biden administration.

According to reports, the biggest single day of illegal migrant contacts occurred in April, with less than 450 border crossings.

Manny Bayon, head of the National Border Patrol Council branch in the San Diego sector, told The Post that he had “never seen” numbers this low “in my over 25 years of Border Patrol service.”

When Trump returned to the White House, he declared a border emergency, deploying hundreds of troops to the region and terminating the Biden administration’s “catch and release” policy, which enabled millions of illegal migrants to enter the United States for free.

While the border stays calm, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents have begun carrying out Trump’s major deportation campaign.

According to ICE, more than 66,000 illegal aliens were apprehended and over 65,000 were deported during Trump’s first 100 days in office.

“We’re just 100 days into this administration, and thanks to President Trump and Secretary Noem, ICE is using every tool at its disposal to enforce our country’s immigration laws and protect our communities,” acting ICE Director Todd Lyons said in a recent statement.
